Basic Tailoring Course

Our Basic Tailoring Course is designed for beginners who want to learn the foundations of stitching and garment making. This course focuses on practical, hands-on training to help you confidently create everyday wear for women and kids.

Course Includes:

Tools & Machine Knowledge

Students will be introduced to the sewing machine, its different parts, and how to operate it safely. They will learn:

    • How to thread the machine properly

    • Types of needles and their uses

    • Bobbin winding and insertion

    • Use of essential tailoring tools like measuring tape, tailor’s chalk, scissors, pins, seam ripper, and more

Body Measurement & Drafting

Learning accurate body measurements is the foundation of tailoring. This module covers:

  • Step-by-step guidance on how to take perfect measurements for different body types

  • Introduction to drafting paper patterns for tops and bottoms

  • Transferring the pattern onto fabric using chalk and scale

  • Understanding grainlines, margins, and layout planning on fabric

Garment Construction

This is the hands-on part where students begin stitching actual garments. They will practice:

  • Basic blouse stitching (simple cut, no complex designs)

  • Kurti/Top with side slits and basic necklines

  • Salwar in a traditional style with drawstring or elastic waist

  • Kids frock with gathered or A-line style

  • Petticoat with waistband and flare cutting

Basic Design Work

Students will explore simple design variations that add style to garments, including:

  • Neckline shaping: round, square, and V-neck

  • Sleeve types: plain set-in, puff sleeve, and cap sleeve

  • Slit finishing: open and closed side slits

  • Introduction to placket making for openings in tops and kurtis

Finishing Techniques

Finishing is what gives the garment a professional and polished look. Students will learn:

  • How to sew clean seams and finish raw edges

  • Hemming techniques for straight and curved edges

  • Applying piping and bias tape neatly

  • Stitching buttons, loops, and placing hooks for closures.
